The C-K Engineering Tangential Tension Gage - LT has the capability of measuring piston ring tension within the range of 0 to 50 lbs.  It will accept ring diameters of 2.500” through 6.000”.  The gage also has the capability of measuring and producing values in metric equivalents.  The Tangential Tension Gage - LT is simple to use and has the durability required for a manufacturing atmosphere.  It provides tension measurements to two decimal places.  The only tooling required to operate the gage is a puck-type setup master having the same diameter as the ring to be tested, a custom-designed ring holder, and a simple band which can be field fabricated from .002 or .004” thick x .5” wide feeler gage stock.  When measuring rings having tension greater than 7#, a band thickness of .004” is used; for rings having less than 7# tension, a band thickness of .002” is used.  Band length can be produced such that it will handle a range of ring sizes.  When rings are measured, the data is displayed on a computer monitor.  The data can be printed or saved to a file.
